Oatmeal.
Yes, ladies and gents, oatmeal is my go-to. But, before you think "yawn," let me tell you: my oatmeal is not just any oatmeal. My oatmeal is made with a tablespoon of chia seeds and a teaspoon of maca powder. It is seasoned with cinnamon and nutmeg (sometimes a dash of cloves if I'm feeling spicy). I sweeten it mostly with berries (blueberries are my favorite, dried goji berries come in at a close second), but also with a touch of honey or maple syrup. I might add one or two chopped dried figs or prunes on a special occasion. If I'm feeling extra hungry, I mix in some pumpkin seeds or almonds. On mornings I want to feel super fresh, I supplement this breakfast with a homemade green smoothie. After I finish my oatmeal, I usually go for an egg-over-easy, and drink some tasty organic tea. Sounds like perfection, right? It is. In fact, it's one of the few things in my life that I feel like I've completely figured out. While my power breakfast might not be your power breakfast, I think it's important to have some sort of consistent morning routine that starts your day off in a way that leaves you feeling fired up.
